September 2008

…It has been over 3 months since I have accepted any new orders. I have been sewing in that time though. I am currently finishing up a duvet cover and pillow sham set for my nephew Seth. It will be a nice gift since his house and family are in the midst of the Houston mess. I have made a couple of other things. I made a sweet Bee shirt and skirt set for my niece, Mary Elizabeth. It is going to look so beautiful on her and I think Brea and Jonathan really loved it, so that made the gift giving even better.  I also made a birthday banner for Maggie for her first birthday.  I LOVE it and it is hanging in her room today!

Maggie is growing so fast. It is hard to sit down at night and sew when I am tired from chasing after her! She is getting more and more beautiful everyday. She is so smart, too, which makes me happy. She loves to try and put her shoes on herself, play in the refrig, organize the dishwasher, and pet Dexter Bing (our Yorkie).

I have enjoyed my time for me. I started at a new school and I am really loving it. I have just spent time with my family. It has been really nice.

I believe I am almost ready to start taking orders again! I want others to get my work and have their kiddos wearing and loving it as much as I love to make it.

I have been thinking for several months now on how to make the ordering process easier for both you and me. Before, I was just taking orders in order and trying to keep up. That is when I had 23 orders and no time to finish them all. Here is what I have decided to do. I hope it works better and is more user friendly for all involved.

On the first of every month, I will open up a number of spots in which I feel that I can do in a timely fashion. For example, in October, I feel like I could do 4 items with no problems. Therefore, on October 1st I am going to open up 4 spots for people that want to place an order to do so. Here are the details.

The first of each month I will open up spots based on my availability. The spots will go up for grabs at 9:00 p.m. central standard time. To get a spot, all you have to do is leave a comment under that post. The first four comments, get a spot. If you need more than one item, you have to leave the same number of comments. For example, if I needed 3 shirts for my three children, I would comment three times to get three spots. Does that make sense?

I am going to try to see how this works. I have had over 20 emails in the past month of people wanting and needing items. It is very flattering, but I am only one person. I would love to hire someone to help me, but that takes the “me” out of Maggie Moo’s Mom. If you don’t get one of the spots on the first of the month, you will have to wait until the next month.

I am also increasing my prices just slightly. With firm details about shipping…and paying.
